Our speaker today was Ramona Kietti, author and domestic abuse survivor. Ramona detailed her experience as a victim of domestic abuse including escaping her situation in the middle of the night by traveling from Kenya to Dubai and then on to other countries. She came to the United States because her sister lives here. Her children were, at the time she ran, young adults, and she tried to visit them occasionally. Ramona discussed “red flags” in a relationship, especially the controlling behaviors of the abuser. She noted that abuse appears in many forms – physical, psychological, emotional, financial, and sexual. Ramona has written a book which she hopes will empower victims of abuse to seek help and she is raising funds to build a shelter for abuse victims in Kenya. #coldwaterkiwanis... See MoreSee Less
