The Coldwater KiwanisClub received its charter in May 1969 and was organized by the Lima Club. The club began with 30 charter members and two of those remain today. Our club has maintained a membership of approximately 60 to 70 in recent years. The Kiwanis Club of Coldwater is in Division 2 of the Ohio District. Over the years our club has received numerous Distinguished Club Awards from Kiwanis International. Seven members have served terms as Kiwanis Division 2 Lt. Governors. One member has served as the Ohio District Kiwanis Governor. One has served as the Ohio District Kiwanis Treasurer.
Our club normally meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month. These meetings are held in the Coldwater Good Shepard Church downstairs meeting room. These meetings are at 11:30 AM.
Meetings begin with brief club announcements followed by an educational and entertaining program or service project. Each month, a new team of several members is assigned responsibility to schedule speakers for that month’s meetings. We have found that this method of scheduling speakers provides a wide variety of presentations. Meetings typically last one hour.
A Board meeting is scheduled once each month and normally is held on the second Tuesday of the Month. This meeting is also held at the Good Shepard Church and is scheduled for 11:30 AM. The Board meeting is open to all members.
Typically, our Club schedules a Kiwanis Roundtable on the fourth Tuesday of the month. This is a social gathering for members and is located at Rooster Joe Coffee on Sycamore Street in Coldwater at 7:30 AM.
Occasionally, the Club will meet at a different location or time. These location and time changes are announced in the weeks prior to the affected meeting and are shown in the Club Calendar.
The Kiwanis Mission & Vision
Kiwanis empowers communities to improve the world by making lasting differences in the lives of children. Kiwanis strives to be a positive influence in communities worldwide — so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive.
Kiwanis Service
Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 241,000 service projects and raise nearly US$340 million every year for communities, families and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.
Kiwanis clubs focus on improving the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time. To reach more people and have a greater service impact on their communities, many clubs sponsor Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs. Our Club sponsors:
K-Kids for 4th grade students
Builders Club for 7th & 8th grade students
Key Club for High School students
Aktion Club for adults with disabilities
For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live. When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.
